Simplify Lawn Care by Having the Right Tools

When it comes to lawn care, you probably don’t want to spend your free time trying to locate the tools and supplies you last used to do yard work. Staying organized can make the process of heading outside to mow or plant flowers a little easier. Here are some suggestions for organizational tools that will help make your backyard into a retreat instead of a junkyard.

1. Workbench

A workbench is indispensable for homeowners who need a place to clean and sharpen lawn tools, store buckets with spades and work gloves, measure out soil or plant food, or pot plants. Some benches come with an attached pegboard, allowing you to hang small tools out of the way while still keeping them within arm’s reach. Consider using your bench as a “seed depot” so that you’ll always know where to find the packets when it comes time to plant.

2. Yard tool organizer

A yard tool organizer is a great addition to your garage. You can mount it as high or low on the wall as you’d like, allowing you to get brooms, rakes, and shovels off the floor of your garage. Prevent those tools from falling over and take back the space you need to park and maneuver around your car. Having all your tools in one space will be aesthetically pleasing and make them easier to find when you need them.

3. Shed

A shed in your backyard is handy for putting away items that would otherwise clutter up your yard, such as a lawnmower, trashcans, gas cans, pesticides, and wood chips. You can also store away non-lawn items, such as patio furniture, bicycles, and holiday decorations. Make the shed a welcome addition to your backyard by landscaping around it.

4. Hose reel

A hose reel will get the yards-long item out of the way when you’re done watering. Rather than having the hose strewn across the yard where it can easily be walked on or damaged by extended soil contact, wind it around a reel that can be wheeled out of sight or stored in your shed. The yard will look better, which is a bonus for you and your neighbors, and it will be easy to bring the hose back outside when you need it.

5. Shelf

Adding a shelf to your workspace can be a big help for organizing all of your lawn care supplies. Store everything from bags of mulch to gas cans for your mower and whatever else you need to make your lawn beautiful. Be sure to use a shelf in a material that can handle exposure to any chemicals you may use in your lawn care regimen.

It doesn’t take much effort to get your lawn care supplies arranged and stored in an easily-accessible place. Whether you’ve got a green thumb or are new to lawn care, make the process of getting outside to beautify your lawn a little more palatable by getting – and staying – organized.
